“屋久島の縄文杉”よりも古い！？樹齢3000年の『武雄の大楠』【Older than the Jomon cedar on Yakushima!? 3000-year-old “Takeo no Okusu”】

今回は、佐賀県武雄市の【樹齢3000年『武雄の大楠』】についてご紹介させていただきます。

まるでジブリの世界！？縄文時代から「武雄」を見守り続ける御神木
It’s like the world of Ghibli!? Shinboku has been watching over “Takeo” since the Jomon period.

「武雄の大楠」は、全国巨木ランキング第7位に入り、樹齢3000年以上で市の天然記念物に指定されています。
また、樹高は30m、幹回り20m、枝張りは33mで迫力満点です！！あまりの威厳と迫力に来訪者は見上げたまま、声が出ないほど立ちすくんでしまいます。

根元にある穴の中には12畳ほどの大きさがあり、天神様が祀られている祠があります。以前はこの穴に入ることもできたのですが、現在は遠くから眺めることしかできません。しかし、離れた距離でも神聖で荘厳な空気は一瞬で感じることができます。

「まるで別世界で、ジブリの世界に入り込んでしまった！！！」と本当に思ってしまうほど、神聖さを感じます。（筆者経験談）

しかし、改めて思いますが、“3000年以上生きている”って本当にすごいことですよね！
この「大楠さん」は縄文時代から始まって、邪馬台国の女王・卑弥呼の時代、貴族の時代、源平の時代、織田・豊臣・徳川の時代、坂本龍馬や新撰組が活躍した幕末の時代、海外へ打って出た時代など、全ての時代を経験してきたと言うことですよね。

この現代に生きる私たちの姿を見てどう思っているのでしょうか。
環境破壊やゴミ問題など、私たち人類は自然に対して無礼なことをし過ぎているのではないでしょうか。一人ひとりが自然に対して真剣に向き合う心が足りないのではと今を生きていて感じます…
もっと自然に対して謙虚な心を持ち、自然を愛すべきだと私は思います。

あと、もし大楠さんと会話が出来るならいっぱい歴史を語ってほしいなと切実に思いました。
今、一番話を聞きたい方は誰ですか？ってインタビューで聞かれたら、『武雄の大楠さん』って答えてしまいそうですね（笑）

このような大切な日本の宝を今を生きる私たちは後世に伝えていくべきだと思います。

“Takeo’s Okusu” is ranked 7th in the national giant tree ranking, and is designated as a natural monument of the city over 3000 years old.
In addition, the tree height is 30m, the trunk circumference is 20m, and the branching is 33m, which is a powerful score! !! With so much dignity and power, the visitor stood up to the point where he couldn’t make a voice while looking up.

The hole at the base is about 12 tatami mats in size, and there is a shrine where Tenjin is enshrined. I used to be able to get into this hole, but now I can only see it from a distance. However, even at a distance, you can feel the sacred and majestic air in an instant.

I feel sacred enough to really think, “I’ve entered the world of Ghibli in another world !!!”. (Author’s experience)

However, I think again that “living for over 3000 years” is really amazing!
This “Okusu-san” started from the Jomon period, the era of the Queen of Yamatai, Himiko, the era of aristocrats, the era of Genpei, the era of Oda, Toyomi, Tokugawa, the era of Ryoma Sakamoto and the end of the Edo period. It means that you have experienced all the times, such as the times when you went abroad.

What do you think of us living in this modern age?
I think we human beings are doing too much rudeness to nature, such as environmental destruction and garbage problems. I feel that each and every one of us is not enough to take nature seriously …
I think we should be more humble about nature and love it.

Also, if I could have a conversation with Mr. Okusu, I really wanted him to talk about history.
Who would you like to hear the most now? When asked in an interview, it seems that he would answer “Takeo’s Okusu-san” (laughs).

I think that we, who live in the present, should pass on such precious Japanese treasures to future generations.
